View Points

This piece was written and performed during If Walls Could Talk Vol 36
It was written with aspects of Viewpoints and Physical theatre incorporated in its presentation. It is definitely a piece best watched and I do want to keep molding this piece into something that impacts and breath-taking.

Look at this view!
This point of view is amazing!
Look over here! Look over there!
Look to the North and to the South!
Look to the East and to the West!
Look at what's in front and behind you
Look around and now, within you
Close your eyes and see what is in your view.

Point to the bar
Point to the exit
Point to the stage
Point to the lady with beautiful long hair
Point to the man with a muscular physique
Point to the person with a charming smile
Point to the best dressed person tonight
Point to the weary and tired person
Point to the person who has had the worst week
Point to the person who makes you happy
Point to the person who makes you want to continue living
Point to the person who will make a difference in this room
Now open your eyes and see everything around you with a different view.

Let me go straight to the point.

All day, every day
All we try to do is make our views and points known to others
Repeatedly carry ourselves
Back and forth
Back and forth

We get carried away till something breaks
our cycle and stops us.
All we want to do is get from
Point A to
Point B this
Point C that
Point out the Details!
Point Enough
Point F!
......
Or Point Z
And we forget the journey

Sometimes it's good to just stop
and take a breath at the mid point
Look left and right
Look around!
Look at the comrades you have found
Look at who is still with you in this fight
Look at how far we have gone
and where we are headed to

Who walks beside you
Who was there with you from the very beginning
Who now shares the same view.
Who has stabbed you in the back
When you came out proud
When you spoke out loud
When you were being on point.

When you were speaking
They held you at knife point
Making you hush your views
And pay your dues
Pushing you till you reached
your breaking point
Leaving out broken.

Here is the view from rock bottom
You see all that you have left
And all that you let go off
You see the people who have fallen
And what the others are doing as they climb up
to the top
You see the dirt, the grime
The grit between your teeth
And the mess you left behind.

You pick yourself up and climb till
you reach the top and now you see
You see, our views from this point is different
from what others see from down below
Both can be used to your advantage
This vantage point.

Where we take all the views from down below
And hold people at gun point
At point blank range
Holding their gaze
Waiting and deciding if we will pull the trigger
Now that we have their attention as hostage
We have to make a decision.

Is this how you want to make your point
Is this the view you want others to see you
Is this what it takes for people to see
your point of view?

Have you made your point
By pointing fingers
Throwing blame
Setting off offenses
Light it all up in flames?
Didn't your mother tell you it was rude to point?

Pointing out their errors
Pointing out their insecurities
Pointing out their lack
Pointing out their inadequacy
Point
Point
Point
Point
Point
.......
Point out their beauty
Point out their gifts
Point out their efforts
Point out their positivities
Point out their reliability
Those are the things our society always forgets.

As I am standing here,
My view on the community
My focal point being what I can do for you
Beyond myself and the horizon of heads and snapping fingers
I see the bigger picture of generations of life changers
A tidal wave that rises beyond expectations
To deliver results beyond our imagination

This Is Malaysia

Recently Swit Marie has gotten more active on the HitRECord platform and started working on new material and collaborations. This was definitely the highlight of 2020 for her years of writing in the past few years. Reaching an international audience and being part of a community of creatives through this project involving over 180 contributors. 2020

I  wrote this on the flight travelling back to Malaysia in 2020, leaving Australia after what would have been the last time I see the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I was observing the people around me, it was an 8 hour flight with a lot of turbulence, who would have know that 2020 would be that kind of year as well. It is funny how things tell you of what will come in its own little ways.
